In this workshop we are going to explore contact improvisation as an embodied creative dance practice. With awareness of our own body and practice of different movement techniques we intent to bring ease and flow into dancing in contact. A connection with the floor is an essential element in contact improvisation and can help us to stay connected with ourselves and other dancers. We will take this notion with us while also playing with sharing our weight, sensing our centre of gravity and finding continuity in our shared movements.
We will close the workshop with a jam: A free dancing space where you can apply what you have learned in the workshop, and/or dance freely.
Every body is welcome: Experience in contact improvisation or any other dance/movement practice is welcome, but not necessary.
About Simone Jasmijn: Simone Jasmijn is a dance- and movement artist. She has been inspired by contact improvisation for more than seven years by various teachers in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Her intention is to keep on growing and learning through dance and movement by also sharing her experiences. “What excites me about contact improvisation is a sense of playfulness and meeting the other through an attentive listening with the body. Every dance is different and can feel like entering the unknown, yet being present in the moment and in relation to the others and the space”.
