They say an image can tell more than a thousand words. But we like to think it’s not a competition between the two! Instead: how can images complement and interact with stories and texts? How do you create a compelling image that draws the attention of a reader? Are you curious about how to liven up your stories with illustrations? Join this workshop on illustrating stories.
In this workshop, Dafni Petratou will guide you through the first steps of making a compelling illustration. You will work with a story that you bring, for example a story you wrote yourself or an existing tale. If you have no story in mind, a story will be provided. Both stories written in Dutch or English can be used. You may bring your preferred art materials or use the paint (acrylic), pastels or pencils available at the Cultuurwerkplaats. We hope to give you a taste of illustration during this workshop!
Dafni Petratou is a mixed media illustrator and participatory artist based in Wageningen. Her aim is to tell stories through art, create art-based education material and inspire people through playful ways of facilitation and expression.
